In this guide we will explain how to connect NX to Teamcenter and administer it in a managed environment.
Test NX Connection to Teamcenter.
Using NX documentation, we will create a simple batch file to connect NX to Teamcenter for initial testing. This video shows how to collect the information needed to connect NX to a 4-tier, managed NX session. Initially, testing is limited to your Teamcenter login and ensuring that Teamcenter File Management System (FMS) starts, and you can author new NX data in a managed environment.
Go to Siemens Support and Find NX2406 series and find Teamcenter integration for NX. Then launch the Teamcenter integration via command line.
NX Managed with Site Settings
When you are connecting your NX instance to Teamcenter, you will want to do it for an entire group. Build a site directory structure so your client can use the same NX setting for all work. We get this information from NX Managed with Site Settings.
Run NX managed with site-wide settings using NXcustom directory structure found on the Siemens Community Site. Collect the NXcustom version needed and use it to connect to Teamcenter using your company’s custom File, à New templates, and NX common, or site-wide settings.
Speed NX Upgrades by using the NX Configuration and Customization Assistant.
In this video we will cover customer defaults. We will show you how to transition from an older version of NX to a newer version and work toward setting up for continuous release. That includes the following;
- Create and edit Site level customer defaults.
- Import customer defaults from a previous version for Site settings and Drafting Standard.
- Import customer defaults report review.
- Review changes from out-of-the-box settings.
- Use the NX Configuration and Customization assistant to evaluate customer defaults and drafting standards.
- We will also evaluate deployed environment variables that NX uses. NX Configuration Tool
Siemens Licensing Tool
When you launch NX 2406 for the first time after installing you will get a message that says you don’t have a license for this. Here is how to setup your license bundle.
Use the Siemens Licensing Tool to select and arrange your NX bundles for design, analysis, and manufacturing by setting the bundles appropriate for your group/role. Generally, you will set the lowest cost, highest availability licenses as the first pick (Mach 1, 2), then more expensive, less available licenses as a secondary choice (Mach 3). However, if you are an industrial designer, always using NX studio surfacing, set a Mach 3 bundle first, then a Mach1.
Download and Install Siemens NX
When downloading and installing NX you can get "NX 2406," "NX What’s Changed," "NX tools Reports," and "NX 2406 add-on’s" – where you will find other tools like "easy fill."
In this video, we navigate to Siemens Support Center, locate NX2406 and download it locally. Download Link.
During the installation, we will pick an install location, connect to the license server, and select the appropriate software to install based on your license landscape and needs. We will also show you Additional Add-Ons location and what is available there.
Does your Siemens Licensing Tool Crash?
There is an issue with the licensing tool in previous versions of NX where the licensing tool will not retrieve the bundle information and that causes it to crash. Here is the workaround.
If you are running a mixed license and your Siemens Licensing Tool will not allow you to select bundles (crashes, closes, etc), this video will show you a work-around. By using a newer Licensing Tool executable, you can elevate to a network location and configure it for use by your users.
