NX Foundations

NX Foundations

Gain expertise in creating precise 3D models and high-quality engineering drawings with NX CAD's powerful toolset. Whether you're new to CAD or looking to enhance your skills, this overview course lays an ideal foundation to equip you for success.  The course based on our five-day in person class covers the following topics at your own pace and with real-time support from an experienced instructor.

User Interface  -  Feature Modeling  -  Synchronous Modeling  -  Assemblies  -  Sheetmetal
Sketching  -  Wave Interpart Linking  -  Drafting

Additional Classes

There are nine additional classes available on the platform (more added monthly).  They include the following:

Freeform & Surfacing

Freeform and Surfacing

Learn the latest Freeform Modeling, Surfacing, and Curve creation techniques available in NX CAD. Quickly explore alternative design concepts using this versatile toolset that allows for fast and easy shape creation using a combination of 2D and 3D curves, surfaces, and solids.

Advanced Surfacing

Advanced Surfacing

Design and create Class A surfaces using a wide range of NX tools that allow the user a high degree of control over shape, efficiency and quality of a surface. NX provides a high-end surfacing environment where you'll learn how concepts can be brought to life, analyzed and edited into its final, intended form.

Assemblies

Assemblies

Explore how to create and manage complex 3D assemblies using NX CAD’s specialized tools and features. You’ll get a detailed look at the interactions encountered in the Assembly Modeling environment, how to utilize the Assembly Load Options, as well as using Assembly Constraints, Arrangements, and Reference Sets to set up display states within the assembly.

Drafting

Drafting-1

Learn to create high-quality 2D engineering drawings from 3D models using the NX CAD drafting tools and features. Explore capabilities such as modifying drawing layout settings, adding various views, editing dimensions and annotations, and setting up explosions, all while creating detailed multi-sheet drawings.

Sketch

Sketching

NX Sketch Task Environment is one of the most important aspects of designing in NX CAD. Learn how to utilize these unique Sketch tools to create lines, arcs and other profile geometry, while adding dimensions and relationships between sketch objects in order to control the geometry and foster a robust design environment.

Feature Based Modeling

Feature Based Modeling

From extrusions and swept geometry to blending and other detail modeling, the large and diverse collection of NX CAD Feature Modeling tools and options will be explored and applied to various operations in order to create complex and precise 3D models.

Sheet Metal

Sheet Metal

Learn how to leverage NX CAD’s vast toolset to prep your models for Sheet Metal. Get familiar with setting up and creating base Sheet Metal features, adding details such as bends, blends and various cutouts, all while analyzing the design to make sure that it is manufacturable.

Wave Interpart Linking

Wave Interpart Linking

Discover how to establish and manage links between components in an assembly by leveraging the power of NX CAD to create WAVE Link geometry, and design around existing components and geometry while maintaining associativity.

Synchronous Modeling

Synchronous Modeling

Get familiar with NX CAD’s unique approach to direct modeling with the Synchronous Modeling toolset. Allowing the user to choose to ignore the history of an existing model or work with featureless imported geometry, giving the user the power to directly manipulate any object in the design environment with minimal restriction.

FAQs

What Will Engineers Need For These Courses?

They’ll need an NX CAD license (Mach1 Design level or higher), an appropriately spec’d computer and experience with another parametric 3D-based CAD system (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA).

What If I Don't Have An NX License?

Contact us, we’ll connect you with a partner resource to get you set up with a license.

How Long Will Engineers Have To Access The Courses?

The course seats come with 60 days of access per engineering student (90 days for "all class access") with extensions available on request. We find you’ll get the best learning outcomes if you commit to completing the course within a month. Most people who take these courses are motivated to do that anyway – the faster you build your competence, the sooner you can take on the kind of work that will make your effort worth it!

*HOW MUCH INSTRUCTOR SUPPORT COMES WITH THE COURSE?

You can schedule time with an instructor at any time during your online course. Simply email and book an online screen sharing session. Use the time to ask questions or get input an area if you are stuck. The NX Foundations Class comes with up to 1 hour of instructor time, available in thirty-minute increments by appointment only. Other shorter classes come with thirty minutes.  If you order the "all class access" that comes with up to 2 hours of instructor support.  You do not need to use this time and many who take the classes do not.

Can I Get A Preview Of The Course?

Yes, take a look at a sample lesson focused on Sketching here!

Can I customize classes?

There are ten classes with more coming.  You get order the full platform access and mix and classes according to your Engineers needs.  We also offer in mentoring time with the instructor as an add on if needed available in five hour blocks.  Ask about pricing.

What if we want on site training?

If you still want on site training, or want to supplement these online classes with on-site in person training - we do offer that.  You can book an appointment on this form and let our us know or use the NX Training Form on our website.

Can we get additional coaching?

Yes.  You can order additional coaching or mentor hours for employees you sign up for the platform.  Just let us know when you book your demo.  Mentor time is available in five hour blocks.
